Gazzumping

The headline says it all....Prime Waterfront Property for Investments. Beautiful NZ vistas...
Come visit this showroom at that time. You gear yourself up for a professional, polished ad.
Fine print: No capital gains tax. No restriction on foreigners blah blah blah.
No Gazzumping.

Huh? No Gazzumping?
No GAZZUMPING??
What is THAT?

Turns out that JustFinance.ie defines it as follows: When the seller accepts a higher offer from one buyer having already accepted an offer from another buyer.

hmmm...great concept, but would have thought somebody could have come up with a spiffier word for it. Gazzumping to me, falls in the wazzzzuuuppp category. Yoz, if anybody knows how this word came about, lemme know!
