Cassis

Wow, it's been a while since I last wrote. I just came back from a too-quick visit to a beautiful tropical island where I stuffed myself silly with the local delights...and now...after 3 days, I need another holiday already. What is it, when you don't really have anything to complain about, but you're still sighing? I feel I have been on austerity drive, tightening the belt to mundaneness and the tedium of mediocrity.
Oh...I just had to use bombastic words to bring some drama and colour into my life I suppose.
Sos.......well, I did go to Cassis. A very nice place indeed, where the food was Frensh - my appetizer scallops were good - sweet and tender, with the best zing of tart lemon, and soy and sea salt! Loved the salt!! It almost really crackles and jumps out at you. Because appetizers were at main course prices, I ended up having 2 appetizers, even though I didn't see the bill eventually. My other appetizer was a cold asparagus soup, with a chopped bunch of salmon tartare in the middle. Salmon in an asparagus sea. Quite good. Though not memorable. Forget the rhubarb pie. ;( The papaya souffle was surprisingly good! Even though I've never had a penchant for papayas. From the time of the papaya tree in my backyard, till the time it was chopped down, till the 12th of never....
Oh...back to the original fruit - Cassis. It's an amazing ambience - beautiful surroundings - 2 outdooor themes, incl sitting under 'boughs' of candles, or submerged within plush cushions; or inside airconditioned comfort with ornate high backed chairs, spotted with embroidered black curlicues.
Sorry, no pictures. Didn't feel it would be appropriate. But suffice to say, it's pretty. And possibly, a very very romantic rendezvous.....at a very dear price for two.
Back to another aspect of cassis - the new sparkling Ribena is just yummy.
Hmmm, I dont' want to make this another food review blog...since I can't write so dreamily about all the things I eat, and say bombastic things about munchies.
Time to start the old cogs cranking...and write some insightful pieces.....Ohmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
